People often ask how a book written thousands of years ago can be relevant in today’s world of computers, cell phones and space travel. On this page, we have put together a collection of Bible verses that still provide essential guidance for today’s mothers. You can make up your own mind on their truth and relevancy.

 

Everything written long ago was written to teach us so that we would have confidence through the endurance and encouragement which the Scriptures give us. Romans 15:4

Children, obey your parents because you are Christians. This is the right thing to do. “Honor your mother and father that everything will go well for you, and you may have a long life on earth.” This is an important commandment with a promise.  Ephesians 6:1 
Responsibility and consideration are not one-sided.


Unless you change and become like  little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes like a little child is the greatest in the kingdom of God. And whoever welcomes a child like this in my name welcomes me.  Matthew18:2  So much for sophistication and knowledge.

Simply say “yes” or” no”. Anything more comes from the evil one.

We know that suffering creates endurance, endurance creates character, and character creates confidence. We’re not ashamed to have this confidence because God’s love has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit.

God didn’t give us a cowardly spirit, but a spirit of power, love, and good judgment.  2 Timothy 1:7   More courage and strength.

A person who isn’t spiritual doesn’t accept the teachings of God’s spirit. He thinks they are nonsense. He can’t understand them because a person must be spiritual to evaluate them. Spiritual people evaluate everything but are subject to no one’s evaluation.  1 Corinthians 2:14   Some folks will never understand.


(Love) bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:7  The Inventor of Love couldn't have said it better.


Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it is not rude, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

As a holy people who God has loved, be sympathetic, kind, humble, gentle and patient. Put up with each other and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Above all, be loving.

Love your enemies and pray for those that persecute you. In this way you show that you are children of your Father in heaven.

Blessed are those who show mercy. They will be treated mercifully. Blessed are those whose thoughts are pure. They will see God. Blessed are those who make peace. They will be called the children of God.

Nothing makes me happier than to hear that my children are living according to the truth.  3 John 1:4   Make your parents happy.

 

With wisdom a house is built. With understanding it is established. With knowledge its rooms are filled with every kind of riches, both precious and pleasant.

e smart about being a parent. It pays off according to Solomon.

 

Train a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not turn away from it.  Proverbs 22:6  There goes Solomon again.


All of your children shall be taught by the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children.  Isaiah 54:13 Better than the school of hard knocks.


Listen to your father’s discipline, and do not neglect your mother’s teachings, because discipline and teachings are a graceful garland on your head and a golden chain around your neck.  Proverbs 1:8   
Another nugget from the king of Proverbs.

 

Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask which paths are the old reliable paths. Ask which way leads to blessings. Live that way and find a resting place for yourselves.  Jeremiah 6:16.   Look both ways before crossing.

 

Examine me, O God, and know my mind. Test me and know my thoughts. See whether I am on an evil path. Then lead me on the everlasting path.

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. You have six days to do all of your work. The seventh day is the day of worship dedicated to the Lord your God.
